Late last year I went on an adventure to Nicaragua. This was my second time to visit this beautiful country, but my first time to meet Jennifer of Doña Elba Cigars. She grew up in the tobacco fields with her family, harvesting tobacco. A well known cigar craftsman found her in the fields when she was a teenager and their love story began.
Together they built a thriving cigar business and a small family.
Five years ago Don Silvio passed away tragically after a routine surgery, leaving her to raise her boys alone, and continue Doña Elba. Jennifer is brave and lovely and determined to create amazing cigars as a woman in a man’s business.
