RECIPE | Homemade Instant Oatmeal

I’ll be honest, cooking three meals a day wears me out.  It sucks the life out of me.  I hate it.

That’s why I love quick-fix-cut-corners-easy-on-the-grocery-budget kind of meals.  And if it’s breakfast and kids can make it without me, even better.  I’m not vouching that this is health food.   So if you’re one of those health nut types, stop reading now and don’t judge.

I grew up on the ready made “just add water” little pouches of instant oats in those amazing flavors like peaches and cream and strawberries and cream and maple cinnamon.  Basically, this recipe recreates a homemade version of the Cinnamon and Brown Sugar Instant Oats.

In a large bowl you’ll mix 4 cups of quick oats, 2 cups of oat flour (I process 2 cups of quick oats into flour), 3/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg, 1/2 tsp allspice, pinch of salt, 1 cup powdered milk.
