I’ve been given so many gifts. I look back over the past few years of starting my photography business, and I can count one after another. My clients, my friendships and partnerships with artists who inspire and encourage me.
One of the landmark weeks of my year was working beside Joy Prouty of Wildflowers Photography. I have been her biggest fan for years, creeping on her Instagram and blog, wishing our paths would cross and certain we would be besties.
And then she came to Texas. Just a skip away from Oklahoma and I knew it was meant to be. And what’s even more incredible, I was her videographer for the workshop. The screams that came out of this house could be heard up and down the street. My kids thought I was acting so “unprofessional” but I threw care to the wind and just reveled in the thought of witnessing an artist I admire so much do her thing.
And the goodness I learned. Those two days were a gift beyond words, a time of reflection and friendship and magic. God knew what my heart needed and He delivered something more than I could have asked for or imagined. I’m so thankful.
Joy has a love for women artists which runs deep and she speaks truth even when it kinda hurts. I wish I could have taken more notes, but sitting at her feet (literally) with my camera in hand, I just soaked it in. Work has never been so satisfying or so lovely.
I’m honored to have been given the opportunity to sit beside Ms. Joy in an intimate way. She brings sunshine and laughter and authenticity to this world. She works hard, she loves well, she creates incredible beauty.
You are a gift, my friend. And I feel so lucky to walk along our lifes’ journeys together.
